Originally built as a single-family residence in 1883, and re-designed in the 1970’s by renowned architect Robert A. M. Stern, this three-story, 21-foot-wide house has been modernized for contemporary life.
A private entrance leads into a newly enclosed foyer with hidden closet space. The open-plan living room beyond provides views of the rear yard, where updated fencing and landscaping enhance the beauty of a secluded garden.
At the ground level, a fully renovated kitchen includes a breakfast bar that extends from the center island and features lighting by Tom Dixon; new lighting was also installed throughout the unit.
The building’s crown consists of two bedrooms attached to renovated bathrooms: In the master suite, a private vanity space was carved out from a previously unused space, and an extra room was created to for use as an office space or den.
